36:21, Qur'an
Follow those who do not ask for [any] payment from you, and they are [rightly] guided -
26:106 - 107, Qur'an
[Like Noah,] when their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear [God]? Indeed, I am a trustworthy messenger to you -
26:124 - 125, Qur'an
[And] their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear [God]? Indeed, I am a trustworthy messenger to you -
26:161 - 162, Qur'an
[And] their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear [God]? Indeed, I am a trustworthy messenger to you -
26:142 - 143, Qur'an
[And] their brother Salih said to [Thamud], "Will you not fear [God]? Indeed, I am a trustworthy messenger to you -
26:177 - 178, Qur'an
[And] Shu'ayb said to [the companions of the thicket], "Will you not fear [God]? Indeed, I am a trustworthy messenger to you -
6:90, Qur'an
[And thus] those are the ones whom God has guided [as well as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, David and Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses and Aaron; Zacharias and John, Jesus and Elijah; and Ishmael, Elisha and Jonah,] so take an example from their guidance. Say, "I ask for no payment from you for [this message]. It is nothing but a reminder for the worlds."
23:72 - 74, Qur'an
Or do you ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path -
For Muslims say in the Hadiths that, "Ibn 'Abbas (RA) Narrated:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: 'The most worthy thing for which you receive payment is Allah's Book.' [Reported by al-Bukhari]." - Bulugh al-Maram
*Jeremiah 7:10 - 11, Torah
[Will you] come and stand before Me in this House, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?' Has this House, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen [it]," the Lord says.
Matthew 23:5 - 7, Gospel
[For] they do all their works to be seen of men - they make their phylacteries broad, and enlarge the borders of their garments, and love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.'
23:84 - 85, Qur'an
[So] say, "Whom do the earth and whoever is in it [belong to], if you should know?" They will say, "[They belong] to God." Say, "Then will you not remember?"
47:36 - 37, Qur'an
And [thus,] if you believe and fear [God], He will give you your rewards and not ask you for your wealth. If He should ask you for them and press you, you would withhold, and He would expose your hatred.
9:75 - 76, Qur'an
Among them are those who made a covenant with God, [saying], "If He should give us from His bounty, we will surely spend in charity, and we will surely be among the righteous." But when He gave them from His bounty, they were stingy with it and turned away while they refused.
92:8 - 11, Qur'an
But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need and denies the best, We will ease him toward difficulty. And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?
4:36 - 37, Qur'an
[So] serve God and do not associate anything with Him, and do good to parents, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom you possess by oath. Indeed, God does not love those who are self-deluding and boastful - [those] who are stingy and enjoin stinginess upon [other] people and conceal what God has given them of His bounty - and We have prepared a humiliating punishment for the disbelievers.
James 5:1 - 3, Gospel
Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that will come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are cankered; and their rust will be a witness against you, and will eat your flesh as it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the Last Days -
63:10 - 11, Qur'an
[So] spend [in the way of God] from what We have provided you before death comes to one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." But God will never delay a soul when its term has come. And God is Aware of what you do.
[Shepherd of Hermas 17:5 - 6], Gospel
[So] look to the Judgment that comes. You then who have more than enough, seek out those who are hungry, while the tower is still unfinished; for after the tower is finished, you will desire to do good, and will find no place for it. Look therefore, you who exult in your wealth, unless those who are in want will moan, and their moaning will go up to the Lord, and you, with your [abundance of] good things, are shut outside the door of the tower.
23:99 - 100, Qur'an
[For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, return me so that I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No! It is only a word he is saying; and there is a barrier behind them until the Day they are resurrected.
